No parish too small: implementing the liturgical reforms of Pope Benedict XVI
On September 14 & 15, 2007, the St. Gregory Institute will hold a symposium at St. John’s Church on the implementation of the reforms of Pope Benedict XVI. From small chapels to large cathedrals, the making of gradual changes toward the liturgical vision of the Pope has become a very real possibility for most parishes. Practical, scholarly and philosophical discussions will be led by Rev. Robert Skeris of the Catholic University of America; Paul Weber of Franciscan University, Steubenville, Ohio; Rev. Richard Cipolla & Rev. John Ringley, priests of the Diocese of Bridgeport, Connecticut; Scott Turkington & David Hughes, Connecticut organists & choirmasters. The cost for the symposium is $25.00. The schedule may be found below. You may register online here.
Among the talks will be:
“Theology of Worship and of its Music - From Joseph Ratzinger to John Paul II to Benedict XVI” - Rev. Robert A. Skeris
“The Leaven and the Loaf” - Rev. Richard Cipolla
“Trends in Corporate Worship by a Convert Church Musician” - Paul M. Weber
This talk will try to highlight greater trends in worshiping practices that transcend the Catholic-Protestant divide and how these trends influence the work of church musicians.
